2008 Nationals Qualification

2007 National Overall & Venue Champions are automatically "pre-qualified" for the 2008 National Championships.  A list of pre-qualified riders will be published shortly!

USASA National Ranking and Selection

Series winner:
The winner of each age category, male & female, (best of 3) will be qualified for the Nationals. If the winner cannot go to Nationals the next rider in line may take that spot. Therefore, one representative from each age group, male & female, shall be given a slot to Nationals providing they have qualified as stated in the rules. See Rule 103.04. Regional Series winners will be determined by best three results in all disciplines.

The points system used by each Series will be the same throughout all series.
All series must provide results in each discipline for which they have riders, male and female.
Therefore each series will provide results in GS, Slalom, BX, Halfpipe, and Slopestyle, for men and women, in each age category.

Gold Medallists:
The gold medallists from the previous Nationals will be qualified to the current Nationals as per rule 103.04  The competitor requesting this slot must have qualified as stated in the rules.

Revolution Tour:
The overall winner, male and female, of each discipline (HP, SS, BX) in the Revolution Tour will be given slots to the Nationals. If the winner is already qualified to Nationals, the slot will be handed down to the next rider in line.  See Rule 103.09

Remaining Slots:
All remaining openings in all age categories and venues will be filled from the National Ranking. See Rule 104.05.  To clarify, after the above positions have been filled the next riders to be invited to the Nationals will be the highest ranking riders on the ranking list.  Example: each series has qualified their winners but 20 more slots are available in that age group. Then the remaining 20 will be taken from the National Ranking list.

103.06 National Ranking
The National Ranking will be the riders’ best 3 results in the last 12 months, the Nationals may or may not be included. Qualifying points will be awarded in each discipline, each age category, male and female. Points will be awarded according to the number of competitors in an age group. Points awarded from Nationals will be worth one and a half (1.5x) as much as points awarded via a regional event.

Points Attribution:
Points will be awarded at all events but a rider will retain only the top 3, three, finishes during a 12, twelve, month period. This includes Nationals. I.e. if a rider has more than 3 finishes, her top three finishes will automatically be taken which may or may not include her nationals finish.

The Nationals ranking will be published each week and is available at: http://www.usasa.org/rankings.lasso

Placement in a Regional event will be awarded a point value, as shown below, plus a 10 point bonus for you and every person in your age group that you beat.

Placement at Nationals will be awarded double the point value shown below, plus a 10 point bonus for you and every person in your age group that you beat.

Riders must compete in and count a minimum of 2 events in their home series to be considered for National Rankings. A rider may compete in an outside series to obtain a 3rd result. Results from an outside series will not be added to the rider’s National Ranking score until the minimum home series requirement is met. Only the first result from an outside series may count towards National Ranking regardless of number of outside events attended. A rider may also use the previous year’s National Championships results in their best 3.
